To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam chose its own, new, tulip! The tulip bulbs were planted in the UNESCO World Heritage-protected garden in the autumn of 2024. The tulip will be unveiled and officially christened on 10 April 2025. The choice for our own tulip was inspired by the fact that this beautiful spring flower is so strongly connected to Amsterdam and is not only a decorative garden element for our guests, but also a symbol of the rich cultural heritage of the Netherlands.
In addition to the new tulip, twelve wooden tubs are blooming with ‘Purple Chrystal’, a fringed purple tulip with a white base, ‘Queensland’, a double pink with white fringes, ‘One Direction’, white with red flames, ‘Virichic’, a pink with green tulip with pointed leaves, ‘Purple Circus’, white with purple fringes, ‘Joint Division’, pink with yellow fringes, ‘Flaming Flag’, purple with white flames, ‘Foxtrot’, double pink with white, ‘Sunset Tropical’, double magenta pink, ‘Ballerina’, orange lily-flowered, ‘Holland Chic’, white with pink lily-flowered, ‘Foxy Foxtrot’, the soft yellow with apricot and salmon orange double tulip. A mixture of all these varieties is on the pavement in front of the entrance.
